Drop Zones
The course contains Environmental areas (no access) and high grass hazards that extend across fairways – referred to as “horizontal/environmental hazards.” To improve pace of play and ensure consistent penalty strokes, ELGA has established designated drop zones.
Use of a drop zone always incurs a one stroke penalty.
Reminder: These drop areas are an effort to enhance ELGA’s pace of play by reducing the time spent looking for unplayable balls. The course has already designated environmental areas as “No Access” – balls landing there are “Not Lost, But Considered To Be Donations.

Hole #2
If a ball enters the Environmental hazard fronting #2 fairway, the player will drop a replacement ball on the green side of the fairway, 2 club lengths from the end of the cart path bridge.

Hole #5
If a ball enters the horizontal hazard across #5 fairway, the player will drop a replacement ball on the green side of the fairway, 2 club lengths left of the cart path where it intersects with the lateral hazard.

Hole #6
This hole has a horizontal environmental hazard in front of the tees and a lateral environmental hazard to the right side of the hole. If the flight of the ball does not go across any inbound portion of the hole it will be dropped to the left side of the cart path at the end of the bridge. If the ball does fly over an inbounds portion of the hole (fairway, rough or green) and then goes into the hazard, it will be treated as a lateral hazard with the drop point being the place the ball last entered the hazard.

Hole #8
If a ball enters the Environmental horizontal hazard in front of the green, the player will drop a replacement ball on the green side of the hazard two club lengths from the end of the bridge.

Hole #12
If a ball enters the horizontal environmental hazard across #12 fairway (to the left of the lake), the player will drop a replacement ball on the green side of the hazard two club lengths from the end of the bridge. Balls landing in the lake will be considered a lateral hazard — drop from the crossing point.

Hole #13
When hitting from the tee box, if the ball hits or crosses over any part of the green or the land surrounding the green and ends up in the water, the third shot (penalty assessed) will be played from the point where the ball entered the water.
Tall, un-mowed vegetation on the edge of the lake shall be considered part of the water hazard. Determination of third shot play will be made by consensus of the team, or by the team Captain if consensus cannot be achieved.

Hole #15
If a ball enters the environmental hazard in front of the green, or the very high grass to the right side in front of the hazard, the player will drop the replacement ball on the green side of the hazard, 2 club lengths to the right of the end of the cart path bridge.

Hole #18
If a ball enters the grassy meadow/knoll in front of the Gold Tee Box, very seldom is the ball found (unless stepped on) and if found very seldom can the ball be played from its resting position. Therefore, the ball will be considered lost and the player will drop a replacement ball on the green side of the meadow within two club lengths of the cart path lined up with the center of that end of the fairway.
